TexasOMS COVID-19 Update

All of us at Texas Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery hope that this message finds you and your family in good health. Our world has changed a great deal over the last few months and we have all experienced many challenges. While our practice has been treating only emergency patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are very pleased to report that we have maintained and even added to our staff throughout this crisis, and we have all stuck together as a team. We are very grateful that everyone on our team has remained healthy and well during this time of trial.

As we begin to resume our regular schedule of patient care, all of our long-standing policies and procedures for infection prevention and control have been maintained and even augmented for the safety and health of both our team and all of our patients. We are very proud of our 15 year history of continuous Joint Commission Accreditation as an Office-Based Surgery facility, which requires our adherence to very stringent standards of patient safety and infection control. In addition, our practice has always strictly followed the recommendations of the CDC, OSHA and other agencies. When you visit our office you will notice the following refinements, and we would like for you to know what to expect.

Prior to an appointment, our staff will ask you to complete your registration forms and a screening questionnaire online via our patient portal. We encourage you to wear a mask to your appointments. Upon arrival in our office, both you and any escorts or caregivers with you will be asked to complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire and have your temperature taken with a non-touch laser thermometer. Non-contact hospital-grade hand sanitizer dispensers are available for your use in our reception and check out areas, and we encourage you and your escorts to take advantage of them. All paper reading material, including magazines and patient education literature, have been removed from our reception area, as these items present disinfection challenges. All patients and visitors must be accompanied by one of our staff members throughout their time in our facility, as no unescorted roaming will be allowed.

You will find that our clinical staff will be wearing a full complement of personal protective equipment (PPE) ranging anywhere from surgical masks and respirators to bouffants, gowns, faceshields and shoe covers depending on the procedure. COVID-19 testing will be performed prior to surgery when indicated. Those individuals presenting for a scheduled surgical procedure are encouraged to bring with them their own blanket.

As always, your health and safety, and that of our team, is our top priority. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time of fluid changes and developments. We are very grateful for the loyalty and trust demonstrated to us by our patients and their families. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff is more than happy to answer any questions or concerns that you or your family might have, so please don’t hesitate to call 214-824-8960 and ask. All of us look forward to seeing you once again!

Wishing you the best of health,

The entire team at Texas Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
