Anesthesia
Dr. Bates holds both an Anesthesia Permit through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, and is registered with the Texas Medical Board to provide Office-Based Anesthesia. He is licensed to provide all levels of anesthesia, from local to general anesthesia, and holds a Level IV Permit to provide deep sedation and general anesthesia.
In addition, our practice undergoes a periodic Office Anesthesia Evaluation as a condition of Dr. Bates' ongoing membership in the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Fellowship in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
As a requirement, all of our staff members maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS or CPR). In addition, Dr. Bates maintains both Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Patients undergoing surgery under anesthesia in our accredited Office-Based Surgery facility can be assured that they will be carefully monitored throughout their procedure and in our recovery room. Our state-of-the-art monitoring equipment provides for continuous monitoring of all of the following vital signs parameters:
- Blood Pressure
- Pulse (heart rate)
- Respiratory Rate
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Pulse Oximetry to measure peripheral arterial oxygen saturation
- Capnography to measure end-tidal carbon dioxide (CO2)
- Temperature
